Participants were elderly individuals residing in two nursing homes in Japan. All were capable of providing responses of at least“ yes/no,” regardless of the presence of dementia. Data were collected through interviews. Initially, participants were asked to describe their suff ering expressed in relation to abstract questions. A total of 71 individuals out of 96 surveyed were analyzed. The number of elderly that reported one or more type of pain was 67(94.4%). Less than half of the participants(46.5%)discussed pain following the fi rst abstract question, although the rate of dementia was signifi cantly less in this group than those who did not discuss pain following the fi rst abstract question. Individuals that discussed pain in response to specifi c questions did not discuss pain in response to abstract questions. Therefore, the current results suggest the importance of specifi c questions when assessing pain in the elderly.}, pages = {1--13}, title = {介護老人保健施設で生活している高齢者の苦痛の実際と抽象的な質問と具体的な質問による回答の違い}, volume = {9}, year = {2017}, yomi = {ホリウチ, フキ and ソヤノ, アヤコ} }
