The purpose of this study was to elucidate the daily-life burdens and difficulties caused by minor symptoms generally experienced by women in the first trimester of pregnancy. An anonymous selfadministered questionnaire was distributed to women in the fi rst trimester of their pregnancy; valid responses were obtained from 86 women(recovery rate: 59.9%, valid response rate: 58.5%). For analysis, descriptive statistics were calculated using IBM SPSS Statistics 21(Tokyo, Japan), and questionnaire items were classified and categorized based on similarity of the content. Results revealed that pregnant women experiencing Minor symptoms experienced daily-life urdens and difficulties in the following areas: “Eating,” “Excretion,” “Sleeping and resting,” “Washing and grooming,” “Actions and ovements,” “Outings,” “Communication,” “Dressing,” “Taking medicine,” “Living conditions,” “Housework,” “Childcare and nursing care,” “Work,” and “Understanding and support from near and dear ones.” For pregnant women to lead relatively healthier and more comfortable daily lives, nurses must provide health guidance and teach coping methods for Minor symptoms.
